Respons·ability Social Therapy™ (RST)

The Respons·Ability Social Therapy™ (RST) program is a specialized, comprehensive initiative designed to support individuals in developing meaningful social connections. This program is rooted in the philosophy of celebrating strengths and addressing individual needs, fostering skills that enhance relationships, socio-emotional reciprocity, and communication abilities.

All RST members participate in comprehensive initial and annual assessments. These assessments are grounded in scientifically valid and reliable methods, designed to celebrate strengths and identify areas of support.

  • Initial Assessments: These provide a detailed understanding of each individual's developmental, behavioral, and functional abilities. This baseline helps us recognize their unique traits and track their progress over time. The goal is to support the person, not just their diagnosis.

  • Annual Assessments: These allow us to observe growth, tailor supports to evolving strengths and needs, and adjust group and individual interventions accordingly. They also offer families and clients professional insights for educational planning, such as Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and assist in accessing community resources.

What We Measure:
Our evaluations and assessments focus on a wide array of functional and developmental areas, including:

  • Strengths and areas needing support in communication and problem-solving.

  • Emotional understanding, regulation, and expression.

  • Non-verbal communication and sensory integration.

  • Executive functioning skills, including planning and organization.

  • Social interaction abilities in various settings (home, school, community).

  • Co-occurring mental health considerations.

How We Assess:
Our methods include a variety of individualized and collaborative approaches:

  • Direct clinical observations and interviews with participants.

  • Discussions with parents, caregivers, teachers, and the participant to gather multiple perspectives.

  • Standardized assessments and behavior ratings.

  • Tools designed to capture longitudinal development and progress.

Why This Matters:
Our assessments provide a foundation for understanding each participant's journey and help us:

  • Highlight strengths and adapt treatment plans to foster growth and personal fulfillment.

  • Encourage meaningful connections by focusing on intrinsic motivation for positive relationships.

  • Collaborate with schools and community agencies to ensure participants receive tailored supports, including professional advocacy for appropriate educational accommodations.
